This paper presents the results of biocompatibility research of PN-90 polytetrafluoroethylene implanted in the subcutaneous fat space of laboratory animals (Wistar rats). The implantation of the polymer was carried out under general anesthesia in the subscapular region. Histological sections of tissues from the control area and adjacent to the implant were investigated. Around the implanted polytetrafluoroethylene there was an intensive growth of new vessels of various calibers combined with a severe fibroblasts proliferation. The polymeric material was also investigated by means of an IR spectrometer and a scanning electron before and after implantation According to the results of IR spectroscopy the chemical composition of the polymer remains unchanged. The surface of polytetrafluoroethylene after implantation was practically identical to the surface of the initial polymer Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that polytetrafluoroethylene is biologically compatible and can be used in medicine as a base for implants

The results of social-hygienic and clinical researches of children with obesity are given in the article. The sociological method was based on interviewing. For the disclosure of social and hygienic characteristics of the child population a questionnaire consisting of three main blocks: socio-demographic, lifestyle, and genetics has been developed. The clinical method included anthropometrical measurements, clinical examination and biochemical test. Our clinical research showed that obesity ofthe I degree prevailed, and more often - among boys. The abdominal type of obesity was observed in 86% ofchildren. One case ofa metabolic syndrome was revealed.

The article reviews physical development of teenagers living in extreme climate conditions. The influence of various factors on physical development leads to phenotypical changes. The environment influences much on the children’s organism as due to genetic plasticity and lability it is more acquisitive to unfavorable factors. Researches in the North where residing conditions are severe enough, considering extreme factors, such as long period of low temperatures, sharp day differences of atmospheric pressure, polar night, deficiency of solar radiation, etc., have revealed delay of terms of the beginning of growth activity, a great speed of transit of separate stages of the organism development, the accelerated maturing and early biological maturity which is explained as a phenotype approaching to the special ecological conditions.

The article gives an overview of obesity as one of the main metabolic risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. The reasons of the development of obesity and pathogenetic mechanisms of complications development from the side of the cardiovascular system are considered against its background, as well as the risk to human health in the presence of visceral obesity. We present data on child obesity as a metabolic base of cardiovascular diseases at which a prolonged accumulation of adipose tissue leads to the most serious disorders of human organs and systems, primarily cardiovascular one.
